William P Lauder Executive Chairman of
The EstÉe Lauder Companies TO ADDRESS
TFWA WORLD EXHIBITION CONFERENCE

TFWA is pleased to announce that William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (ELC), will be the industry keynote speaker at the TFWA World Exhibition Conference in Cannes on Monday 19th October.

The Conference, which takes the theme The Challenge of Change: Investing in people and mankind’, will stimulate discussion at the start of the 25th annual forum for the duty free and travel retail industry.

In a special interview-style keynote address facilitated by BBC HARDtalk presenter Stephen Sackur, Mr. Lauder will provide his perspective on guiding a highly successful prestige beauty enterprise through economic highs and lows. The interview will include discussion on ELC’s principled approach to global environmental, economic and specifically women’s health issues. He will also reflect on how duty free and travel retail may evolve over the next 25 years.

The Estée Lauder Companies is among the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of prestige skin care, make-up, fragrance and hair care products which are sold in more than 140 countries and territories under 29 well-known brand names. The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer and raises funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Fragrances and cosmetics represent an extremely important sector of the duty free and travel retail market accounting for nearly 31% of global sales in 2008, according to industry analyst Generation Research.

Erik Juul-Mortensen, TFWA President will make the opening Conference address looking at how duty free and travel retail has evolved over the last 25 years, assessing its status today and looking forward to the future of the industry and how current global issues and initiatives may affect it.

He will be followed by Jacques Attali, Economist, Historian, Futurist and Humanitarian who will give a sociological and economic perspective of society, human behaviour and the cyclical nature of economies and economic trends.

Finally, after the interview with Mr Lauder, former Boomtown Rats lead-singer and now humanitarian Bob Geldof will look at global geopolitical trends and their impact on business and populations in developing countries.

The TFWA World Exhibition Conference is free to all delegates registered for TFWA World Exhibition. Pre-registration closes on Thursday 10th September.
